The Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Classic has been a flagship event for 39 years, bringing together our community, local businesses and visitors from across Australia and beyond. More than just a competition, the Classic encourages mate-ship, connection and positive mental health outcomes through the sport we all love… fishing!
Running over 7 action-packed days, the event offers something for everyone. Each night highlights a different group — Seniors, Ladies, Youths, Juniors and Teams — to encourage participation, inclusivity and a bit of friendly rivalry.
Competition Categories
The Classic caters to all levels of fishing experience, from first-timers to seasoned pros, with two major divisions:

Within these, anglers can compete for four prize categories:
Beach: 5 species (Adults, Youths, Juniors)
Reef: 6 species (Adults, Youths)
Mulloway: Adults
Big Fish: Adults

You don’t even need to catch a fish to win! Simply buy a ticket, take part in the fun, and you’re in with a chance. Including a $70k boat package for Adults, and brand new to 2026 a boat for Youth competitors too!

Inshore or offshore. Fishing zone is between Maheno Shipwreck and Noosa North Shore.
All things fishing and camping. Eskys, rods, reels, boats, kayaks, tackle, and everything in-between.
The heaviest weighted fish wins 1st & 2nd place for Adult & Youth competitors.
1st, 2nd & 3rd daily for juniors, then overall winners announced on Saturday.
