The Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Classic has been operating for 39 years, bringing community, business and visitors together. Our event encourages mate-ship and positive mental health outcomes via the sport of fishing. The event runs for 7 days, offering many opportunities for fishers, with several nights focusing on groups to encourage participation and friendly rivalry – Seniors, Ladies, Youths, Juniors and Teams.
Rainbow Beach Sports Club provides the venue, facilities and staff for the event. With last year’s entrant numbers of nearly 600 Adults and 120 Youth and Junior competitors surpassing our expectations, we envision that this year’s attendance will be even bigger! In 2025 our community provided more than 500 volunteer hours in pre-event preparation, during the event and post event.
Our Audience
The Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Classic caters for all levels of fishing experience with 3 major categories – offshore, inshore and beach with four prize categories:
- Beach (5 different fish species) available to adults, youths and juniors
- Reef (6 different fish species) available to adults and youths
- Mulloway fish available to adults
- Big fish available to adults
We also provide Major Draw Down prizes for Juniors, Youths and Adults. This is a big draw card, meaning you don’t even have to catch a fish throughout the week to participate in the random draws for the Draw Down Prizes. The audience we are targeting is:
- Groups who enjoy fishing, 4WDing, camping, competing and socializing
- Families
- Fishing Clubs
- 4WD Clubs
- Boating enthusiasts
- Skilled and unskilled anglers, young and old alike
- Local, regional, national and international tourists

The support of your business would directly associate it with one of Australia’s favourite pastimes, Recreational Fishing, which provides your company with a major opportunity to promote your products and services.

Throughout the duration of the event, over $400K worth of prizes are given out representing the four prize categories. These prizes are sought from sponsors in cash or kind. If Sponsorship is in cash, the Rainbow Beach Sports Club will purchase appropriate prizes on behalf of the sponsors for presentation.
